Hazards: Storm, destruction, disaster, damage, weather, nature.

RenaissanceRe Capital Partners managed $8.54 billion of assets under management at the end of June 2026, a 5.5% increase over the last year. According to the company, this growth was achieved despite a slower pace in the last quarter.

Growth in ILS Assets

The growth in ILS assets under management was reported by RenaissanceRe Capital Partners, the specialist third-party capital management division of the reinsurer. The company's quarterly reporting has shown meaningful returns of capital to third-party investors, as the reinsurance firm managed down the size of some of its vehicles and enabled investors to take profits off the table.

Breakdown of ILS Assets

The company's ILS assets under management can be broken down into several categories, including joint-venture reinsurance and insurance-linked securities strategies. The following table shows the growth in ILS assets under management over the last year:

CategoryJune 2025December 2025March 2026June 2026
Total ILS Assets$8.09 billion$9.08 billion$8.46 billion$8.54 billion
DaVinci Re--$3.35 billion$3.69 billion
Vermeer Re--$1.77 billion$1.89 billion

Capital Returns and Growth

The returns of capital and subsequent growth have been seen in the balance-sheet vehicles, such as DaVinci Re and Vermeer Re. These two rated reinsurance and third-party investor-backed joint-venture structures now both stand larger than they did a year ago, but are slightly smaller since the end of 2025 due to the capital returns to their backers.

Market Opportunity

The company has shown a keen desire to match the amount of third-party capital to the opportunity it sees in the softened property catastrophe reinsurance market. As reported by Artemis, RenaissanceRe is conscious that this is a time to maintain its strong footprint while not overloading its underwriting teams with excess capacity. The first-half of the year has been a period of consolidation and capital return, as RenRe enabled investors to benefit from the strong returns achieved over recent years and managed its capacity for the current market opportunity. The company's ILS funds managed by RenRe Capital Partners have proven to be flatter, in AUM terms, with the Medici catastrophe bond fund flat at $1.44 billion since the start of the year.
